ABOUT
Josh Herum is a Cinematographer & indie film Director based in the midwest USA, specifically in St. Louis, Missouri.
He started developing his skills in visual storytelling at a young age with his dad’s VHS and point & shoot cameras. In his young adult years he traveled the world shooting stills in over 20 countries. He then directed and shot his first independent short-film in Suzhou, China, a documentary entitled 'HOPE' which won three awards in it's first festival to premiere and went on to be licensed by 88Rising. A few years later he produced another short documentary, The Man Behind The Merferds, about a street artist. It screened and won awards in festivals including the 27th St. Louis International Film Festival.
In 2022 he was the Director of Photography on two narrative feature length films; ‘A Road to a Village’ directed by Nabin Subba which had it’s world premiere at the 47th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in 2023, and ‘Flower Garden‘ directed by Ram Babu Gurung which had an international theatrical release in over 100 select theaters in Nepal, USA, Canada, UK, Portugal, Australia, and Japan. It has also amassed 17 million views on streaming since then.
He has now directed numerous music videos, narrative and documentary short films, branded content, and has been the cinematographer on commercial projects with brands; Netflix, BBC, Meta, Sony Music, MARS, Thor, The Wall Street Journal, Procter & Gamble, Shein, Panasonic, SE Electronics, working with a variety of production companies and agencies.
